So far, we have learned that the OT law could not make us righteous. All it could do was reveal sin, and in a sense, increase sin. Through the cross and the resurrection, we are no under the law but under grace.
Now Paul will turn to discussing the role of the law in our life, and then point us towards what it means to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh.
