Why Baptism?

Why Baptism?

Baptism has been contested for centuries, but mainly because it is connected to our understand of the gospel and what exactly “saves” us.  There are also questions about the mode of baptism, but those are very much secondary and not something I’m going to delve into very much.

Our concern this morning is that we be reminded of the importance of baptism, and why it should be something God uses to build our faith.

We don’t recognize the importance of ritual much at all these days.  We tend to throw out rituals and traditions in the name of “authenticity” without realizing that we are often throwing away vital connections to our community, both present and passed on.
