Attending a worship service at a church you don’t know makes a lot of people a little nervous. Perhaps the hardest part is not really knowing what to expect when you arrive. We want to make your first visit as smooth as possible so we have put together a list of common questions that will help you.
We keep it pretty casual around here. The average dress is somewhere between casual and business casual. You may see someone wear a tie and a few that dress more casual.
What is the Worship Style?
We are pretty eclectic, but gravitate towards a simpler acoustic style. We play a lot of modern worship songs, sprinkled with a healthy dose of traditional hymns.
What is a Typical Order of Service?
We are dedicated to remaining flexible, but a typical order of service would go as follows:
Call to Worship by Pastor
4 or 5 worship songs
Testimony or Exhortation from the congregation
Communion (every other week)
Pastoral Prayer by an Elder
Apostle’s Creed or The Lord’s Prayer
Invitation for Prayer
What Happens with My Children?
We encourage parents to keep their children with them during the music portion of our worship service. After that, children are dismissed to classrooms where they have activities and a Bible lesson geared towards their age group.
There is a comfortable cry room for Moms that need to comfort crying babies, or would like to have some privacy for nursing. The cry room offers a convenient view of the service.
Pastor Ben preaches in an expository style, drawing his points from the Bible. But he also works very hard at rooting the truth of the Bible in practical applications that connect with people where they live. Sermons are challenging, encouraging, and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ.
How Long is the Worship Service?
We typically go an hour and a half. We begin at 10am and finish by 11:30, though there are rare occasions when we end closer to noon.
Will I Be Singled Out?
We are careful to not do things that will single out our guests, or draw unwanted attention to them. You won’t have to stand up and introduce yourself, hug your neighbor, or anything like that.
Someone will probably say hello to you because our church is made up of very friendly, loving people. Other than that, how you interact with people is totally up to you.
If you have more detailed questions about what to expect on Sunday morning, please feel free to contact us. We will respond right away.
